What is a Seamless Texture?

Years ago, seamless textures were used primarily for desktop wallpaper and web page backgrounds. Today, high resolution textures are used for a variety of design applications including Photoshop fills and 3D rendering.


How do you create a Seamless Texture?

The clone tool icon is located on the tool bar and looks like a rubber stamp. Just about any digital photo can be transformed into a seamless texture using Adobe Photoshop. I've created a short tutorial that explains the technique I used to create all the seamless textures on this website:
